In a very rare occurrence, a trio of restored EMD locomotives , assisted a failed SCT train to the summit , at Mt Lofty. In February 2021, a West bound SCT intermodal had a loco failure and was not able to climb the 2,5% grade to the summit. Due to a loco shortage, the only power available was in Victoria, over 8hrs away! The stricken train sat for over 12hrs waiting for help, in the form of 3 vintage EMD's , all recently rebuilt and very rarely seen in this part of the country. This video sees the train arriving and the helpers being cut off , and returning to Victoria. To see the train being pushed , visit AM22 and M&S trains on youtube , for some great footage.
