Akureyri is a very special town and one of its characteristics is its abundance of old and well-kept vinatege cars. The local car club is good at getting owners to show their cars every now and then and this irresistible sight caught my eye the other day. Note that many of the cars have older generation registration plates that have only one letter representing the car's home region and vars in Akureyri had the letter A. Although a new type of registration plate was introduced decades ago, the vintage registrations plates are allowed and it is especially popular here in Akureyri. It is even more popular to buy your own registration number with letters, or names of choice up to 6 letters and /or numbers. Such numbers are very popular here in Iceland and here in Akureyri are hundred of numbers with the letter A and dad's or grandpa's licence number, within the new system.
