This was the result of my second Track In A Day challenge! This time I went for a more sentimental approach, with lyrics that floated between standard eurobeat fare and genuine melancholy. The riff models itself more after songs like Kiss To Kiss by Mako and Round & Round by Cherry than my usual brassy style, too!

This song means a lot to me.
On the one hand, Ive long been trying to find my way back to a more refined version of how I used to sound when working in Logic Pro, but I couldnt quite figure out how I sounded the way I did back then. After long last, Ive found that it was orchestral elements— in this case, a string section, french horns, and bells— that made a world of difference. Im finally able to capture the lush, full sound I once had with the more up-to-date production techniques Ive learned in the last few years.
On the other hand, its been a little while since Ive written a more emotionally impactful tune. Meanwhile, in the last month its been a struggle to step back from work and content creation to take better care of myself, and I felt the whispers of a version of myself I thought I left behind coming back to haunt me. This song was my reminder to myself that Ive kept the best of myself with me, and Im worth maintaining. The way I used to be is no longer here. Im finally more fully and openly myself, and that will not change.

I made this track in a day! Its been hard to find the right words or express the right sense of how the return to unemployment has worn on me without coming across as attention-seeking and whiny. The last three and a half months have borne much the same kind of fruit as the last time I was unemployed— far less of its severity, thankfully, but present nonetheless— in that the sense of uselessness and insufficiency have returned in full force. It takes conscious effort to ward off the notion that I simply have little to offer the world, and what I do offer is just not enough.
Please understand that I do not seek to come across as ungrateful to those of you who have supported me through this time, or indeed any time— far from it. Ive not enjoyed quite the same broad appeal as many of my colleagues and superiors in terms of the size of my following, but what I do have with you is depth— I can shed any pretense of being someone through whom youd want to live vicariously, and speak as Travis, whether thats through an alias such as Odyssey or Ken Blast or not.
