I can hear them right now, scuttling and scampering about inside the walls. Tiny claws scratching against the wood. Little bodies brushing through the darkness just beyond the light. I can hear them whispering to each other in frantic, hungry squeals, debating who’ll get the first bite.
Which parts of me they’ll tear into first once I finally stop moving. My eyes keep darting toward the corners of the room because every few seconds I swear I see something shift out there… dozens of tiny shapes gathering, waiting for me to grow weaker.
Tonight, we descend into one of the most disturbing underground horror stories you’ll ever hear… where the real terror isn’t what waits beneath the earth… it’s what comes back out.
Today’s phenomenal story is ‘Vermin’s Nest’, an original story by Corpse Child; shared directly with me via my subreddit and read here with the author’s express permission.
