Los Angeles firefighters responded Tuesday evening to a rescue after a vehicle left the roadway and came to rest approximately 25 feet down in the rocky Pacoima Wash near 13697 North Gavina Avenue in Sylmar.
Firefighters located the vehicle and safely extricated the occupant before conducting a litter basket operation to raise the patient from the wash to the roadway.
Once on the street, the patient was transferred to a waiting LAFD rescue ambulance for transport to a local hospital.
Approximately 40 LAFD personnel, including Urban Search and Rescue resources, responded to the incident.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
