Our vegan food in Taiwan journey continues with a visit to a 100% vegan Chinese restaurant called Chao. They take online reservations and have an English menu and English speaking staff. We went on for dinner on a weeknight, so it wasn’t super busy, but we’ve seen recommends to make a reservation because it can get busy. The place is family style dining, so don’t be ordering your own dish here! Ordering is super easy - scan a QR code and order from your phone. There were so many dishes to choose from, but we ended up sharing the sliced pork with garlic sauce, stir fried diced seafood with garlic, mapo tofu, and Shanghai fried rice. If you’re adventurous, you could go for the mashed stinky tofu or the vegan rice blood cake - Chao has some really Taiwanese dishes. With our beer, the meal totalled approximately $45 which was really good for all the food we got! We can definitely see how Chao is a great place for a vegan meal and they have so many dishes to try!
