Playthrough with Demitri, using the version of the game included on Capcom Fighting Collection. A lot of people like this game, but personally I'd rather play the previous one. Vampire Savior gets rid of the best two out of three rounds format, and instead has the "down" system. You have two energy bars, once one is depleted, your character will be knocked down, then get back up again, and the fight will continue. I don't like this system at all. Another thing I don't like is the amount of super gauge meter you get for being hit, it's crazy.
If you're doing a casual one credit clear of this game it's not too hard. If you're doing a one credit clear of this game and also intend to get the hidden boss fights, this game is a NIGHTMARE. The first hidden fight isn't too hard to get, you just have to get three EX move finishes without being downed once. The second hidden boss, Oboro Bishamon, is much harder to get. You have to beat the game without getting downed once (which is a stupid requirement, it's far too hard) whilst also finishing two opponents with a certain EX move.
I need to point something out straight away: this game's default difficulty is two stars. TWO stars, out of EIGHT. Even on two stars the CPU is very aggressive, and will start doing obvious input reading from stage three and onwards. It gets the usual damage boosts as well, and loves to punish any mistake by doing a full chain combo on you or worse. I don't really want to know what the other difficulties are like if two stars is like this.
With Demitri you can get through most of the game by using his chain combos and spamming his fireballs. The difficulty depends on which opponents you get, I got lucky here as I didn't have to fight Felicia -here AI is extremely erratic and I was consistently losing to her.
For Jedah, you need to get away from him, then throw a fireball. If he blocks it, do a neutral jump and then throw out an air fireball. Jedah should air dash into it, so just keep repeating this. Be careful when Jedah has super meter, you don't want to get hit by his EX attacks. Morrigan can be defeated with a lot of fireball spam -she tends to air dash a lot, but if you keep her away from you and keep using the strong punch fireball it should be enough.
For Oboro Bishamon you have to... get very lucky. He does a lot of damage with anything he does, and as you can see in this playthrough I came very close to losing to him.
