The Valero Mexico group came together to participate in a meaningful volunteer activity known as Agricultura Chinampera in the historic chinampas of Lake Xochimilco in celebration of Earth Day. Our volunteers assisted in planting corn and squash in one of the ‘chinampas,’ an Aztec floating garden, a small, rectangular plot of land on shallow lake beds that allows for easy transportation and irrigation.
The experience begins with a heartfelt corn ritual for a bountiful harvest.
