In 1993, the wider world learned what a raptor was for the very first time with the release of Jurassic Park! However long before that paleontologists were studying the fascinating family of Theropods. It was because of them that we learned that Dinosaurs were active animals and not slow, dumb lumbering lizards.
And although the Jurassic Park Velociraptors are famously inaccurate, they were based on information that was currently being gathered the very same year the movie was released. Information about a raptor that was not only the biggest ever found, but would even dwarf Spielberg's movie monster! The beast that still reigns as the king of the raptors... Utahraptor.
