I look back on my last two days of landscape photography from a recent trip to Torridon in the Wester Ross area of Scotland’s Highlands. I adore this area of Scotland - so much grandeur, variety and richness in the flora and fauna. Perhaps what I like the most is that it’s relatively quiet and a real joy to explore, discover and photograph in amazing locations which you may have to yourself. Scotland’s diversity and topography means that there is always something great to photograph, in all conditions.

There’s no point stating the obvious that light in photography is important but I make a point in this video of capturing a couple of photographs which make better use of varying qualities of light by combining it with background shade to better separate your subject(s).

As always, woodland photography or trees in general are the main theme as they sit within my portfolio, but the workshops would include photography around lochs, mountains, pine forests and the fantastic Scotland coastline.
