The athletic stance where the skier is flexed at ankles, knees and hips provides a great starting point for cross country skiers getting into skating on roller skiing. The athletic stance provides a stable platform from which to free kate from ski to ski. It is critical that the skier land in this flexed position since it improves the likelyhood of being able to balance on one ski at at time.
