A government programme in the US has recruited more than 2,000 video gamers into the air traffic controller hiring pipeline, according to the Department of Transportation.
The initiative, launched in April, targeted gamers because of skills such as multitasking, problem-solving and quick decision-making.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said 94% of the recruitment target has now been reached, with candidates progressing through the hiring process faster than previous intakes as the FAA looks to strengthen the country’s air traffic control workforce.
