The Arizona block is a larger block, and since it isn't in the center like in a medallion quilt, Jenny likes to call it a showcase block. First, Jenny demonstrates how to make the large half square triangle units needed for the corner sections. The side sections require flying geese, which were covered in a previous lesson, and Jenny shows how to piece the flying goose unit to the rectangular patch without loosing the point on the goose. The center section is a single square patch, and Jenny shows how to nest the seams where possible to complete the block. Lastly, Jenny shows how to pin and sew on the thin borders around the block.
