Sorry to all you loyal viewers out there but my life has got to the point where I won't be able to answer many (if any) comments on my videos.
Only about 10% of comments made on the videos come through as notifications and there is still a nation of them every day.
This video explains why I have to cut way back but it's basically down to my business going crazy, family commitments and a chronic lack of free time.
I rarely even get time to edit videos so the release schedule has been all over the place for a long time now with no outdoor videos for well over a year - that's simply because I have never been anywhere or done anything other than work 7 long days a week for as long as I can remember.
Unlike many other reasonably successful channels mine has always been a hobby for me, not a financial concern and I love to share information and ideas to help others. That will not change and I will never go the patreon / gofundme / super chats route as I am a firm believer in free sharing of information. I've no problem with the channels which need a bit of income from their hard work making videos (as it is often well deserved) but as I mentioned above the income from any videos does not concern me, hence I no merch, no branding and no need or desire for making the channel a financial concern or any sort of 'fame'.
I really want to make more videos as I have so many topics I'm desperate to cover but spending so many hours per week answering individual comments is becoming too much - to be honest it has been too much for the last 2-3 years both mentally and physically and I can only cut down on sleep so far before it gets damaging to health.
I'm so fortunate to have a really great subscriber base of intelligent people and that has likely arisen from the nature of the videos on the channel - I'm hoping that you'll continue to help each other and treat the comment section in each video as a mini-forum based on the video content and beyond.
When the channel reaches 100k subs I will be doing some really good give away videos so look out for those since it is a milestone which should be celebrated.
At that point I'd like to share the channel with anyone making educational videos so if you have a video you'd like featured on my channel to hit a wider audience and direct people to your channel just let me know sales@filterpro.co.uk
Even some of your older videos will be good as long as you edit a short section at the start giving me permission to upload the video on the channel (ideally with you in it) as that will protect me from people who could claim I 'stole' their video. I'll do a proper explanation in an upcoming stand alone video as I made a bit of a balls of explaining it in this one....
Don't think of this as a retirement, just a step back and hopefully a huge step forward by getting more educational, useful information onto the channel, opening up opportunities for other channels which deserve to be seen by a wider audience and hopefully many more videos from myself too.
Thanks for all your support over the years, it is much appreciated.
Best wishes one and all,
Richard (Pondguru)
Like losing a friend I bid thee farewell
But it's not the end, no virtual Hell
For a brighter future is ours to behold
To educate all, the young and the old
