Full video coming soon on my channel where I will show the various prototype designs we have for plec / cichlid caves. (smaller caves for shrimps are possible...)
They will be available in different sizes / shapes, closed / open end and in different colours.
When the full video is uploaded I'll have a poll on the 'community' tab on my channel where you can vote on your favorite designs which will then be put into full production.
While designing plec caves we considered the following factors:
1 - Will the cave be a suitable size for fancy plecs and cichlids? - Yes
2 - Has the cave got a smooth interior for eggs / fish? - Yes
3 - Does the cave look and feel natural? - Yes
4 - Is the material used for construction capable of supporting beneficial bacteria (aerobic and anaerobic) to aid filtration? - Yes
5 - Will the external structure allow plants to root into it (e.g. Java moss, Java fern, Anubias)? - Yes
6 - Will the price be better value than other 'premium' plec caves? - Yes
7 - Will it be made from 100% natural materials? - Yes
8 - Will it have no effect on water pH? - Yes
Some of the prototype designs have side holes and are larger, making them suitable for mbuna African cichlids while others are smaller, less 'natural' looking and more 'functional' for breeders.
The structure of the caves is also suitable for frags of coral to be adhered to - just imagine how awesome these caves will look when they are covered in plants or corals .... Yes.
