The Spirit of The Union Pacific is the 16th Commemorative locomotive UP has painted, and honors the men and women who have served in the armed forces. The front of the engine pays homage to a B-17F in WWII which had the name on its nose. The rest of the unit is painted in the other colors of the armed forces.
We'll first see the 1943 as it pulls through Cedar Lake, and past a flurry of construction activity for the South West Light Rail Project. We'll get an aerial view of it in Saint Louis Park, and see how things are changing on this part of the line. After this, it is seen blasting though Chanhassen, and then meeting a loaded ethanol train at Jonathan before continuing west. This is one of my favorite heritage units, and it was great to see again!
