UniFi Port Forwarding is easy to setup and configure but, port forwarding hs its risks and there are alternatives to port forwarding. Lets see what those are.
UniFi Port Forwarding is almost identical in term of process in Unifi Dream Machine \ Dream Machine Pro \ USG \ USG Pro. But even if you have a different brand of firewall or router, you should still know: Port forwarding is bad!
Port forwarding in UniFi or in any other brand firewall creates the same risk. an open door from the outside world directly inside your internal network. you might think you are the only one using this door, in fact, the door is open to the entire internet.
UniFi Port Forwarding might be easy set up but the risks are critical. there are several alternatives you should consider using. any of these alternatives can at least reduce yor exposure to threats.
So, in general, yeah, UniFi Port Forwarding is an easy process but should you be forwarding ports at all? if you can, my recommendation will always be to avoid it. Port Forwarding in this day in age is like showing a thief an unlocked door, be aware.
