We have more scientific evidence than ever to guide policymaking, but why still do we see growing political conflicts?
Our political decisions and behaviours are largely influenced by our emotions, identities, values, and by the information and disinformation we receive. To make effective policies , our policymakers need to understand our political nature and everything that impacts it.
The good news is we have science! We work with experts in humanities, as well as social and behavioural sciences, who are dedicated to studying this. They bring the latest scientific thinking as well as possible implications for policymaking.

The European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) provides independent, evidence-based knowledge & science, supporting EU policies to positively impact society.
As a department of the European Commission, we play a key role at multiple stages of the policy cycle. We work closely with other Commission departments, EU institutions and agencies, as well as with scientific partners and policy organisations in Europe and internationally. The JRC offers scientific expertise and competences from a very wide range of scientific disciplines in support of almost all EU policy areas.
