Two 30 minute research presentations…
3. Defying Decline: Future-proofing
In a period of general business decline, Ampere Analysis explores how creators of children’s content can defy the downturn by identifying key areas of growth, and longevity.
Presented by Olivia Deane, Ampere Analysis
With most of the growth in the media market over the last five years being attributed to streaming services, high levels of saturation in Western markets has seen a huge reduction in original content spending. With children’s content providing little motivation for subscription, and therefore the importance of original children’s content on streaming platforms coming into question, how can content creators make the most of the current market?
Drawing on data from Ampere Analysis’s host of services including Commissioning, Analytics, Media Consumer, and Markets Operators, this presentation will explore the current market from a number of different angles. It will aim to guide children’s content creators, and producers to create successful projects in a turbulent media market, by highlighting the types of content most likely to succeed, the types of commissioners most likely to fund them, and the best distribution strategies to offer long-term return on investment.
4. Me, You & Our Fandoms Too
How to harness the social power of fandom, in a time of endless content and increasing loneliness.
Fandom is a global phenomenon - experienced by adults & kids alike. It's also incredibly powerful for brands and fans. At KI, fandom has been a hot topic for a few years, with 2024 being the year of fandom! Kids Industries has developed the fandom model, informed by years of research and application, to make sense of how fandoms come to life & how best to support them.
Kids Industries talk through an overview of the fandom model, how it works and how it can be impacted by things we do. Fandom has traditionally been something that has sat with children, however we are seeing more children influencing the fandoms of their parents. Furthermore, media and experiences are putting fandom as a uniter, pushing intergenerational shared interests and fuelling a wave of ‘KIDULTS’. Kids Industries also looks at where brands are succeeding in this place, and how to stay top of mind with audiences when it comes to the topic of fandom.
