Ultimate Spider-Man promised everything fans wanted — but the finale left more questions than answers. Here’s the truth Marvel didn’t deliver… and the comics that actually did.
This was supposed to be one of Marvel’s biggest modern Spider-Man runs. The creative team was elite. The premise had massive fan appeal. And expectations couldn’t have been higher. But when the dust settled, Ultimate Spider-Man #24 delivered a finale that felt smaller than the moment demanded. The art shines and there are glimpses of what could have been—but the emotional payoff, momentum, and lasting impact never fully arrive.
It wasn’t just Spider-Man. Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon kicks off Marvel’s next major event, but instead of delivering a powerful launch, the issue feels more like a slow-moving setup than the explosive beginning fans expect. Revisiting familiar Weapon X territory and introducing derivative elements without meaningful innovation, the book raises concerns about whether the Armageddon event will deliver real stakes—or simply recycle ideas readers have seen before. Combined with Ultimate Spider-Man’s underwhelming finale, it made this one of Marvel’s strangest and most uneven weeks in recent memory.
