Just when it feels like Marvel Comics can’t sink any lower, Storm: Earth’s Mightiest Mutant #1 proves otherwise. This book isn’t just disappointing—it represents a genuine low point, even by modern Marvel standards.
Storm is one of Marvel’s most iconic X-Men, built on decades of careful development, restraint, and earned authority. Storm: Earth’s Mightiest Mutant #1 by Murewa Ayodele ignores all of that. Instead of a true jumping-on point, this Storm comic drops readers into a confusing continuation filled with stiff dialogue, baffling logic, and scenes that feel wildly out of character for Ororo Munroe.
The real problem is Marvel editorial. Weak oversight from people like Tom Brevoort, Annalise Bissa, and Lindsey Kohick lets half-formed concepts, sloppy plotting, and agenda-driven nonsense hit print. When flagship characters like Storm are treated this carelessly, it’s no mystery why so many longtime Marvel readers are checking out of modern comics.
