Great to meet up with Ashley and Andrea Arnold again and together with Mrs Metalman, we took the 09.45 steamer from Glenridding to Howtown, which took about 35 minutes. The views of Ullswater and the surrounding Lake District Fells were stunning and after a fantastic boat trip we departed the steamer at Howtown to begin the 7 mile walk back to Glenridding around Ullswater. Twice we were buzzed by F35 Lightening jets and we were also treated to a Royal wave when the Duchess of Edinburgh flew past in a helicopter - an eventful day indeed! After a disappointing stop at the Lowther Barn, which was closed, we ended off the walk with refreshments at the Inn on the Lake in Glenridding, offering stunning views over the majestic Ullswater. A perfect end to a great days hiking in the Lake District National Park.
