Our two-night stay at Sofitel Winter Palace Luxor felt like stepping straight into a different century. This historic hotel, which first opened in 1886, has hosted everyone from royalty to famous writers, and you can still feel that old-world elegance in every corner - from the grand hallways to the quiet terraces overlooking the Nile. We loved how central it is - just a short walk from Luxor Temple - making it easy to explore while still having a calm, elegant base to return to.

What really made the stay special for us was the lush garden and the beautiful pool area - a peaceful oasis away from the heat and the buzz of the city. Fun fact: Agatha Christie is said to have spent time here, and the atmosphere definitely has that classic Death on the Nile vibe:
