How to fold a square of paper into Two Interlocking Rings that EXPLODE when you pull the two ends. For the best exploding effect, I recommend using Tyvek paper and Velcro dots to secure the ends together. In the tutorial I also show how to create the exploding effect using ordinary clear tape to attach the ends. And special for you origami purists, I also include a pure origami method of locking the ends together and it still explodes but not quite as well as the Tyvek/Velcro method. This pure origami method is a little less secure but much easier to fold than the lock for the original 2 Interlocking Rings that I taught here: youtu.be/Jd1xw8jA9QQ
Recommended Materials:
For small sizes, you can just buy a Tyvek express envelope and cut a square out of it. They used to be at the US Post Office and I imagine they still are!
36-inch wide Tyvek can be bought by the foot here: https://shop.mica.edu/tyvek-roll-white-36-by-the-foot.html (Buy 3 feet to obtain a 36-inch square)
For bigger quantities...this is where I buy Tyvek by the roll: materialconcepts.com
Call or email them for pricing and info.
To color the 2 Interlocking Rings in the intro I used Dr. Ph. Martin's Iridescent Liquid Acrylic. For the black part I used a permanent jumbo marker. In the past, I've use different colors of permanent markers to color the interior spaces of the Tyvek sheet.
For Velcro Dots, just look it up on the Internet. There's dots and dots of them everywhere!
