[Low Intermediate] How to fold the Twisty Triangles Flexi Square, a transforming lattice of swiveling triangles attached to each other using pure origami locks (no tape or glue). First, I show how to make a mini Twisty Triangles Flexi Square consisting of 4 triangles and then how to make the full 16-triangle Flexi Square. This is a modular origami tessellation because theoretically it could be repeated infinitely; Hopefully you can see how you could attach four 16-triangle Flexi Squares to form a Mega 64-triangle Twisty Triangles Flexi Square!
This model evolved out of my unsuccessful attempt to make origami fireworks out of origami right triangles during a Zoom tutoring session with Cliff Landesman, who is working on illustrating the building blocks of calculus using hinged and unhinged origami structures, and has booked me for several Zoom sessions as an origami consultant. One last idea... I haven't tried this but my idea is that for a more rigid model you could make 16 extra triangular boxes with no tabs and insert them into 16 triangular boxes of the finished Twisty Triangles Flexi Square.
