Star Citizen’s 4.8 patch didn’t just nerf turrets—it made them completely incapable of hitting even the slowest, most predictable fighters. In this video, I prove it with raw gameplay and a simple side-by-side velocity comparison.
Behind me, you’ll see a Perseus’ remaining turrets picked apart by tiny single-seat ships. Later, I show controlled testing: size 5 Galdrine repeaters on a stationary Paladin firing at a fighter rolling in at close range. With perfect aim in precision mode, I can’t land a single shot. It’s absurd.
Here’s what we cover:
00:00 – The Perseus Gets Bullied
01:20 – 4.8 Velocity Nerfs: Live vs. PTU Stats
03:05 – Paladin Turret Test (Size 5 Galdrines)
04:40 – Why This Will Drive New Players Away
05:20 -- The Fix Already Exists For Missiles
06:15 -- Conclusion and Closing
The solution is already in the game. CIG created ground-specific missile variants (like the Thunderbolt 3G vs. Thunderbolt 3) to solve a similar problem. Why not a “Galdrine T” turret variant with massively increased velocity? It’s cheap, elegant, and backed by their own design precedent. Armor and radar changes won’t matter if players refuse to ever sit in a turret again.
If you’re tired of watching multicrew ships become defenseless loot piñatas, drop a like and let me know your worst turret experience in the comments.
