Turning a xXL candle stick from Douglas pine. I started with 4 pieces of square-edged Douglas pine timber. I used the Spindle Roughing Gouge to rough out my work piece. It is very effective for removing wood quickly. I used this gouge to turn the shape
of the wood from a square to a cylinder. The outcome of using the spindle roughing gouge is a really rough surface, therefore I tried to use a bowl gouge and a spindle gouge to improve the surface quality. In the end, the spindle gouge did a very good job here and less sanding is required.

b. 70mm (~3 in) X
c. 300 mm (~12 in)
