Some people close their eyes in tunnels
Some people hold their breath
Some people scream when they pass through
’Cause it makes them think of death
If you travel across the country
You enter tunnels far and wide
You pass through on one end
And come out the other side
Oh, before tunnels were invented
People stayed above the ground
Unless they were in caves
Or in graves in burial shrouds
But I like to say cave undergrounds
Aren’t tunnels, they’re passages instead
And when you’re in a grave you’re not a person anymore
You are dead
I think about tunnels a lot
And how there are none in outer space
You won’t find yourself in one out there
Unless you touch down someplace
Oh, when the expansive void was filled
I really find it a bummer
That God made the choice not to construct
Any celestial tunnels
Oh, before tunnels were invented
People stayed above the ground
Unless they were in caves
Or in graves in burial shrouds
But I like to say cave undergrounds
Aren’t tunnels, they’re passages instead
And when you’re in a grave you’re not a person anymore
You are dead
I talk about tunnels so much
Friends say I am obsessed
I know so much about tunnels
But they haven’t any interest
Like the Gotthard Base Tunnel
is the world’s longest tunnel
If I were that tunnel
I’d find it very hard to be humble
It’s also the deepest railway tunnel too
It’s magnificent
Oh, before tunnels were invented
People stayed above the ground
Unless they were in caves
Or in graves in burial shrouds
But I like to say cave undergrounds
Aren’t tunnels, they’re passages instead
And when you’re in a grave you’re not a person anymore
You are dead
If you’re not a fan of tunnels
I’m sorry for taking up your time
If you didn’t enjoy the subject or the music
I hope you at least enjoyed the rhymes

[Verse 1]
Icy windows at night
Reflecting candles and dancing firelight
Everyones gone to the New Year
Everyones on their way
Thats how we celebrate the holidays
[Verse 2]
A thousand pieces all fit
Cardboard pieces are easier to grip
Pieces of life are a puzzle
Some are hard to find
Some just slip away over time
[Chorus]
For all the most important things
Its easy to forget
This world will stand you on your head
Youll ask the mirror, Have we met?
Searching for home remedies
For feeling all alone
The only remedy I need is home
[Verse 3]
Will we have many more
This time next year will you walk through the door
Will we sing songs to remember
Drink to everyone
Will we live to see the next one
[Chorus]
For all the most important things
Its easy to forget
This world will stand you on your head
Youll ask the mirror have we met
Searching for home remedies
For feeling all alone
The only remedy I need is home
[Verse 4]
Memories that wont fade
Mummers strut in the New Years Day parade
Will we have time for more dancing
Before the parade passes by
