The southern states have been trapped in a persistent killer heat wave, and the effects are beginning to take their toll.
Last Friday, August 12th, a temperature of 117ºF was reported Oklahoma. As a result, seven more lives were lost due to the excessive heat, bringing the total toll to nearly 30 persons throughout the southwest.
A record high of 116 was reported at Ada; 116 at Chickasha, 117 at Shawnee, and 113 at Oklahoma City.
