Using smooth slippery scrap yarn and crochet provisional cast on, cast on half of the number of stitches you need for your project on a circular needle. Chain some extra crochet stitches to form a zipper pull. Slide cast on stitches to the other end of the needle. Add your project yarn now.

Row 1: Knit

Row 2: Purl

Row 3: Knit. Turn and combine stitches from cast on edge and stitches on the needle by alternating them as shown. Pull scrap yarn away from project.
