In this week's episode, I try lead climbing for the first time in a long time! It might not surprise you to know that lead climbing, or sport climbing, is fairly far out of my comfort zone. I'm typically found in a bouldering wall, but when Depot climbing opened their new lead wall, Big Depot, a world class lead climbing and training facility, I knew I had to pay a visit. I dusted off my harness (just kidding, what's a harness?) and headed over to see what all the fuss is about with roped climbing. Any kind of roped climbing is unfamiliar to me, so this week was a lesson in endurance, efficient climbing and head game. I spent the day with Depot para-climbing athlete Lucy Keyworth, quite literally learning the ropes on top-rope, auto belay and lead and pushing through my fear of being in a harness to see if a boulderer can keep up on routes.
