I have this thing where I try new vegetables, berries, fruits that our (my) grandparents used to grow (or really any older generation). Sometimes I will even try things from hundreds of years ago that kinda fell by the wayside today due to "didn't store well, wasn't pretty enough to sell in stores, was replaced by something else easier to grow, etc). Nutritionally, often those older vegetables, fruits, berries are superb to what you find in stores (bred to have long shelf life's, produce more volume, and look pretty on a shelf for weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks).
Ground cherries was on my to-do list to try for many years. I bought seeds before I got cancer then well, had to focus on kicking its butt first. But 5 years later, the seeds were still viable and I planted them. Most of the plants got destroyed by some kind of animal but 2 plants remained with berries. This video is me trying them for the first time.
