Trump has pivoted away from military threats and is now pledging to “crush” the country economically. “Our objective is to sever every economic lifeline that sustains this tyrannical regime until Tehran stands alone,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said at the launch Monday of what the White House is calling “Operation Economic Outcast.”

The problem is, there aren’t many lifelines left to sever.
