Joyce Beatty is challenging actions linked to Donald Trump, citing an August 18 report that described scaffolding set to protect the Kennedy Center marble after reported panel damage. Officials said the scaffolding cannot be removed until repairs are determined, while Beatty’s attorneys referenced an earlier evaluation on remediation after removal of President Trump’s name. On August 13, the board approved a recognition resolution detailing proposed wording. If the Trump Kennedy Center Fund reaches $100 million, the grounds would be named President Donald J. Trump Plaza. The government paused action until September 8.
