When signing the order, Trump claimed that the MMR vaccine can be "quite lethal," but later admitted that he had not seen any evidence that the shot can be deadly. The CDC says the MMR vaccine is "very safe."
Trump also reiterated claims that there is a link between childhood vaccines and autism, contradicting years of research that shows there is no connection between autism and vaccines.
The order recommends that vaccines for Covid, rotavirus, the flu, hepatitis A, hepatitis B and bacterial meningitis be administered based on shared clinical decision-making, rather than universally.
