Vice President JD Vance told reporters Wednesday that he thinks the Supreme Court made a "mistake" by ruling that Trump's executive order to end birthright citizenship violated the 14th Amendment.

Vance incorrectly claimed that if someone is born on U.S. soil, their "all of a sudden their entire family gets the benefits of American citizenship." Under the 14th Amendment, birthright citizenship is granted only to persons who are "born or naturalized in the United States," not to their families.
