Trinity originally opened in 1824 as Washington College at the location of modern day Connecticut State Capitol Building. After selling the land to the City of Hartford, the school moved to its current location in 1878. By 1900, enrollment grew from 9 students to 900. In 1969, Trinity accepted its first female students.
