Back in 1963, singer/guitarist Trini Lopez was performing at the nightclub PJs in West Hollywood, Los Angeles where Frank Sinatra and producer Don Costa saw him and signed him to their new Reprise Records. It was here Costa recorded “Trini Lopez at PJs,” wanting to capture the “live” experience of the crowd reaction to the infectious Latin beat. Years later, Trini reprises three folk songs from that smash hit LP: Marianne, Down by the Riverside and This Land is Your Land. The first album was so successful that they followed it up later that same year with “More Trini Lopez at P.Js.” This clip is from the Irish Rovers 1981 TV Special WASN'T THAT A PARTY taped at the Cave Supper Club in Vancouver.
