Treasury: Plan to write off NMB’s R23bn is unlawful  @newzroomafrika405

The National Treasury says Nelson Mandela Bay’s proposed R23 billion write-off is unlawful. It says this is because the Municipal Public Accounts Committee failed to investigate the expenditure item by item, while an affidavit prepared by the acting city manager Lonwabo Ngoqo is legally defective. DA councillor Gert Engelbrecht says the metro must properly investigate the transactions and identify those responsible before considering any write-off.
