Hackney Downs is a major station located on the Lee Valley Lines to Enfield Town, Chingford and Cheshunt, and the West Anglia Main Line from London Liverpool Street to Hertford East, Stansted Airport and Cambridge. Services are operated by London Overground and Greater Anglia.
I didn't stay here for long, but still managed to catch an incredible variety of trains passing. Included are lots of London Overground Class 710s as well as Greater Anglia Class 379s and Class 745 units on the Stansted Express.
It's a shame to see lots of the PEPs and Class 317s gone from the network, but the new trains introduced do have a bright future ahead of them.
Definitely a recommended station, particularly from the southern end of the London-bound platforms, that gives you brilliant views of the line towards London Fields and the City.
My next video will be a trip report onboard Transpennine Express's controversial Class 802 units in Standard Class from Newton-le-Willows to Manchester Victoria.
