Dr James Shepherd from the MRC-University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research presented at the MRC Seminar Series in January 2021. During his seminar he discussed how pathogen genome sequencing continues to be an important tool to monitor for viral adaptation to interventions such as vaccines as the pandemic continues into 2021. He also discussed how he and his team have used this technique to understand the introduction of SARS-CoV-2 into Scotland and how it has allowed them to understand the drivers of the second wave of infection that began in the Autumn of 2020.
