The Problem

It is common for the boot / trunk rubber button to deteriorate on these vehicles.

It is very common for the trunk / boot button rubber on these vehicles to fail. The poor-quality OEM rubber is not suited to the varying temperatures that this part experiences. The part is prone to melting in the summer and hardening in the colder months. Inevitably the part starts to deteriorate- leaving sticky residue on your hands when pressing the button or melting away completely. Previously this necessitated replacement of the entire button unit; not only is this expensive and more time consuming to fit it would also ultimately fail again.

The button can be stuck in the on or off position, unable to be pressed in. When being pressed in, it doesn’t stay in position and springs back out. No resistance within the button. The fault The heated seat switch on various Fords become inoperable due to the metal bracket that guides the button up & down can break or bend. The small connectors can snap off, the bracket itself can bend/misshapen, or the whole bracket itself could snap in half. This is due to it being made of die-cast metal which can easily break over time. A new button costs around £50 from Ford, but our kit is just a fraction of the cost and incredibly easy to install. These air conditioning compressor pumps all suffer the same common fault. The bolt which retains the shear plate (attached to the drive pulley) to the pump shaft loosens over time. If spotted early the bolt can be seen unwinding itself, eventually it loosens completely and is lost. The pulley will continue to spin with the engine causing the splines within the shear plate to strip. Once this happens the air conditioning pump will no longer function and produce cold air as the pully can no longer drive the pump. Previously the only solution was to replace the complete compressor at vast expense. We now provide just the shear plate and bolts so you can repair your compressor and restore the A/C at a fraction of the price. Symptoms of the fault Symptoms include; no cold air from the air con system and or excess noise from the air conditioning compressor. When the system all appears OK - topped up, no leaks, all seems OK via VCDS logs it is worthwhile inspecting the bolt on the shear plate as this is likely the fault. You should be able to observe the bolt protruding from the compressor (if not yet lost) and the screw not turning despite the pully turning. This is a clear indication that the bolt and shear plate are damaged. Our kit will remedy this.
