Torin won first prize with composition ‘Two Weeks’, in the Concert Music category for Guildhall Young Artists competition 'RELEASE'.

Torin, from Junior Guildhall says: “As a cellist, I am intrigued by the percussive elements of the cello such as the Bartok pizz. My piece, Two Weeks, exploits these elements throughout, as well as the use of complex rhythms and syncopation. This makes the cello part very difficult and almost a concerto in itself - I’m incredibly grateful to the Coalitio Quartet for bringing it to life. I called it Two Weeks as that was the amount of time Jeffery gave me to write it.”

The category judge for Concert Music was Judith Weir CBE, Composer and Master of the Queen's Music.
