Richard's original work ‘Komet’ won third prize in the Release the Image category of Guildhall Young Artists (GYA) composition competition, RELEASE 2024.
Richard, from GYA Online, says: "‘Being part of RELEASE allowed me to practise pushing my pieces to high standards of creativity and experimentation, instead of having to churn out A-level pastiches for a grade. I love writing music which evokes emotion, and working with Jeffery Wilson has been informative in how to communicate thematic ideas, as well as a joy. Having my indie focused compositions being taken seriously instead of brushed off as a side project was really validating, and I want to keep on trying all these different styles out as I go on. I hope I can keep on writing and learning!’
The category judge for Release the Image was Barbara De Biasi, Lead Professor of Film Music at Guildhall School.
