Egypt is a Muslim country, so I really wanted to see several of the mosques in Cairo. I ended up visiting 13 different mosques all over Cairo with my guide, Ahmed, who is an Egyptologist. This video, Top 13 Cairo Mosques, is Part 1 of 2. We visited al-Hussein Mosque; The Citadel, which features Muhammad Ali Mosque, also known as the Alabaster Mosque; al-Azhar Mosque; Sultan Hasan Mosque; Sultan Barquq Mosque; Aqsunqur Mosque, also known as the Blue Mosque; and al-Hakim Mosque.
Ahmed is a wealth of knowledge about these mosques. As you will see, I couldn't have asked for a better guide. He brought the history of these mosques to life and I really enjoyed seeing the beautiful architecture of these mosques as well.
