This is part 9 of my 13 part speed test compilation series on Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2025, and the 1st of 3 parts for all the cars in their fully tuned state, with the addition of engine swaps now into the mix. To unlock engine swaps you'll first have to save up 3,000 BP for it. Once you unlock them, you can choose from a number of different engines to swap into any car you want. None of that stupid mileage grinding to unlock them just for that one car crap from TXR3. So I'm glad to see it implemented in a better way this time around. Despite the options to choose from, only 2 are actually worth looking at. The L-Type V10 NA, and the N-Type V6 Turbo swaps. The L-Type V10 NA being the engine from the Lexus LFA and the N-Type V6 Turbo being from the 2017 Nissan R35 GT-R. The 2 most powerful engine swap choices by miles. When swapping in a new engine, all of your power upgrades are removed & you'll have to buy all the power unit, exhaust, and intake upgrades again for the new engine.
Ideally the N-Type V6 Turbo swap is the superior option as it's the most powerful engine in the game with an insane 1,185 PS fully tuned, but it's harder to adjust the gears for cars with that engine. Even with the highest gear & final drive lowered as much as possible, some cars RPM's still climb past their max power RPM. The L-Type V10 NA swap is a little worse with 1,110 PS fully tuned, plus it's much heavier. But the gears can be much more easily accommodated for cars with this engine. So some cars with the right gear settings are a bit faster with this engine than with the GT-R engine. I had to test all 84 cars with both engine swaps to find which worked better for every car, it was a nightmare. Some cars despite climbing past their max power RPM were still faster with the GT-R engine over the LFA engine, even with the perfect gear settings. I eventually discovered that if a car with the GT-R engine climbs past 7,000 RPM without nitrous, even with the highest gear & final drive lowered to the max, that the LFA engine is likely better suited for it. Some cars even with the LFA engine ended up going well past the max power RPM.
As I did in the last phase of the compilation, I'll show a few screenshots after each test showing the gear ratios and other settings I used in making each car go as fast as it did before moving on to the next one. With the exception of the 2024 Nissan R35 GT-R since it's settings can't be changed. Also as the N-Type V6 Turbo swap is the engine from the 2017 Nissan R35 GT-R, making an engine swap with this car completely useless, it will be skipped entirely in this phase. Refer to part 6 if you want the setup for it. Since I only used these 2 engine swaps throughout the entirety of this phase, the individual gears on most cars are basically the same as I found a good baseline gear setup that worked well consistently. Since all the cars are nearing, if not exceeding 300 MPH now, ride height is much more important than before. Because generally for the most part the faster a car goes, the higher it's ride height needs to be to ensure it doesn't scrape the ground & create sparks on a flat road. Like before you can achieve higher speeds than what I showed here if you take advantage of the special level 9 engine upgrade from the legendary tuner. You'll have to lower the final drive a bit to take advantage of the extra power, assuming you actually can anyway. Part 9 features the first 33 cars, timestamps for each along with the engine swap used for them down below.
