Performing this particular Piano Sonata K9 in d minor by Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757) was inspired by a performance of Tiffany Poon which deeply moved me. Her goal is to work against „dehumanization“ of Classical Music by showing the whole process of preparing a performance including the personal and professional struggles musicians have in their lives instead of just showcasing the final product of a ”flawless performance“. Her contribution for bringing classical music to a broader audience through her YouTube channel is enormous. Please check also out her performance:

Scarlatti composed an incredible number of 555 cembalo sonatas in very distinctive style. He enjoyed experimenting very much and included a lot of Spanish folk tunes and dances by ordinary people into his music since he worked for the Spanish court from age 16. Scarlatti was born in Neapel/Italy and passed away in Madrid/Spain.

What I personally like about this particular sonata is the swinging 6/8 bar, the trills and the crisp sound.
