Merger Era - 20th and 21st Movesets
After many encounters with Team Galilei foiling his plans to end all fun and games, Velho decided to take his magic and army of Mechonoids to a different type of competition. However, he encountered a few unlikely foes along the way, leading to an encounter with the Sheriff and a few others to test his wizardry skills....
Meanwhile, Paper Bowser enters the scene with his army of Koopa Troopas at his command and Kammy Koopa by his side, getting ready for another attempt at taking over the Mushroom Kingdom, this time without Paper Mario there to stop him. He utilizes his brute strength and fire breath, as well as tools like the Star Rod which make him seemingly unbeatable (at least to Bowser). He got one obstruction out of the way, but continues to find ways to achieve his goal of dominating the Mushroom Kingdom under his reign again...
Well, this was a rewarding set to complete, especially as Velho had been planned for both TSLBAE and TSLZ for the longest time. I'm happy to have him get his chance to shine here, and more obscure characters like him will be added later on down the road as time goes on.
Velho comes from this series of games and a TV show named "Galilei ja kadonneet lelut" (translated as "Galilei and the Lost Toys" in English), and I've linked a playlist to all found videos of the source here: youtube.com/playlist?list=PLTjBSAD5wVkW-wTwTtRc1mLLtz6rWbhkg
Velho's dialogue translations:
KO Sound 1: "What will I ever do?" (Timestamp - 05:32)
Victory 1: "This is what you've been waiting for, meet your pitiable doll friends, Yo Rabisnas!" (Timestamp - 06:42)
Victory 2: "And nobody, will have any more, fun!" (Timestamps: 06:55, 14:59)
Victory 3: "Wonderful! Ha ha ha ha, wonderful! The destructive power of my creation is even bigger than I expected!" (Timestamp: 07:06)
As for Paper Bowser, he was someone planned for Lawl Zero for a long time but ultimately delayed as my original way of spriting him wasn't working out. I ultimately solved this problem by doing a different method of spriting to get the necessary animations, and also learned how to pull off the "typewriter" effect for text so that I could make the taunts and victories for him stand out. Like Velho, I am happy to see him fully realized, particularly as he is one of my favorite aspects of the Paper Mario games.
Shout-outs:
JohtoBOI (@JohtoBOI) - for helping out with some spriting for both subjects of this double set
ZippityZab (@ZippityZab) - for the GameCube cameo and the GameCube TTYD stage variant
Mono Nerd (@Mono_Nerd_Production) for the Paper Mario cameo and Star Road/Star Way stage
