In this build series, I am working with Cliff Hall, a toolmaker from New Zealand. Cliff has invented a thread milling attachment for a knee mill that allows for cutting both internal and external threads of both metric and imperial pitches. It can be mounted on the rear edge of the XY table of a Bridgeport style mill or it can lie flat on the table of a horizontal mill like a Cincinnati, and it is entirely manually operated. In this episode:
* Completing the spindle/leadscrew with threads for a collet chuck, lock nut and a through bore for long stock.
* Machining the split locknut for bearing adjustment
* Attempting to machine the bevel gear for spindle rotation which gets abandoned due to the material being too hard.
* Fully annealing the bevel gear using my foundry furnace.
