In Part 2 of Markforged’s thread testing series, we test the strength of a Helicoil insert compared to a variety of different threads, including printed, tapped, and heat set inserts. We also demonstrate how to install a Helicoil with a Helicoil insertion tool. When installed correctly, Helicoils provide a very precise form of threading, but low strength properties.
